Queen Elizabeth II will be the first ever monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.  This momentous occasion marks 70 years of service to the UK, the Realms and the Commonwealth.  The people of the UK will be able to really get the celebrations going thanks to an extended bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June 2022.

Trooping the Colour

Thursday 2nd June also marks the Queen’s official birthday and so these two special occasions will be combined and celebrated with a very special Trooping of the Colour - the Queen’s Birthday Parade.  This parade will see over 1400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians take part in a parade that starts at Buckingham palace and moves down The Mall to Horse Guard’s Parade and will be spectacularly finished with a traditional RAF fly-past.  Various public and community events will go ahead over these four days of celebrations throughout the nation.

The Big Jubilee Lunch

In 2009 the BIg Lunch idea came about to encourage communities to come together to get to know one another and create fun and friendships.  This year, the Big Lunch will focus around the Jubilee celebrations and people are encouraged to share these celebrations with neighbours and friends.  It doesn’t matter if it’s an afternoon cuppa with your next door neighbour on the doorstep or a full blown street party with the entire neighbourhood, anyone can participate and everyone is invited.

Ideas For Celebrating The Jubilee

Street Party - A truly British tradition that is usually honoured in any big royal event that is worth celebrating.  Everyone in your street can get involved and it will create a great sense of community and it’s inclusive fun for all the neighbourhood.  Do seek permission from your local council first.

Garden Party - Break out the best china and hold a garden party or afternoon tea with a selection of family and friends.  Another typically British way to celebrate, but you may want to be prepared for what our typically British weather could bring!

Traditional House Party - A great solution if the weather isn’t on your side, dig out the family board games and some fun party music or watch the live events of TV with some themed nibbles and maybe a drink or two.

Decorations

Whether it’s a street party, house party or something else you’ll want to decorate in order to set the scene.  We have a choice of fantastic bunting, banners and flags featuring the Union Jack or golden crowns and a party isn’t a party without balloons - take a look at our Royally British Balloon bundle.

Tableware

Serving up afternoon tea or maybe you’ve gone all out with a complete buffet spread, your tableware will need to match the theme of the occasion.  With a choice of disposable plates, cups, napkins and table covers all featuring the famous red, white and blue flag you can make sure that everything is coordinated.  If you are planning on a bit of baking, why not choose a Union Jack cupcake stand, cupcake cases and flag picks that will offer a simple solution to home baked goods that will require very little cake decorating.

British Treats

If you are looking for some delicious treats to serve at your celebration then we can help you here too.  We’ve got a range of fabulous chutneys, jams and curds that will add flavour to your sandwiches, offer a great accompaniment to a cheese board or will be perfect paired with scones and clotted cream.

However you choose to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we hope you’ll find just what you need to get the party started within our Jubilee party range.
