Having worked in restaurants and Embassies in London, Switzerland, Australia, Andrew spent 15 years cooking on private yachts all over the world for the super rich, celebrities, the famous and infamous, including 3 years as personal chef to Roman Abramovich.
Now settled in Plymouth, Andrew’s professional cooking career has taken a very different turn - teaching cookery to 4, 5 and 6 year olds as chef tutor at the Plymouth School of Creative Arts. The aim of the school is to embed all the usual subjects in practical ways, such as art, performance, music, and – of course – cookery.
He says “My aim is to teach the little ones a variety of things in cooking, we currently bake bread every day, make fresh pasta, etc, and end up doing more advanced cookery, the older they get. So when they reach 16, they will be very accomplished cooks and be able to fend for themselves and maybe turn out to be chefs of the future. The kids get very excited about cooking in class, they take recipes home, talk to parents, and end up helping to cook and bring together the family for meal times. I love it!”
See Andrew at the Flavour Fest 2016 Kitchen Theatre 10.30am on Saturday 04 June and 12.00pm on Sunday 05 June
